You Deserve to Make Headlines

It's time to get some press so that customers will be begging to get their hands on your products or services. Does  this sound like You?

You've been in business a few years (and you’re working your butt off), yet no one knows about it.

You’re a multi-passionate entrepreneur that wears so  many hats and you often forget what's special about your brand.

You've overwhelmed yourself with the details of press releases, media pitches, and media kits.

You're super uncomfortable at pitching yourself to the media because you're not sure what makes you stand out.

Most of what you know about PR is based on your obsession with Olivia Pope & Scandal, but you know how powerful a press mention  could be great for your business.

Here’s the thing:

I've worked with some amazing entrepreneurs in the past that have amazing stories very similar to your's and businesses that they love as much as you do. However just like you, they had no idea how to approach the media to share their awesomeness.  And they for sure didn’t have the time to draft a media pitch to request coverage. Let's be honest. You don't have the time to research media contacts and then reach out to them.  Here's a secret I want to share with you, and  only you about the media. You don't have to be a celebrity to get the press to pay attention to you. Getting PR for your business is all in the art of the pitch, and I will help you do that.  Call me the Pitch Whisperer.

Why did I create Be Your Own Publicist?

Hiring a publicist can be an investment. It costs $10,000 or more to retain me as a publicist for a campaign. Just imagine what it would be like to turn the page of your favorite magazine and seeing your name. Visualize getting prepped backstage to go onto the Steve Harvey Show to talk about your brand. Think about what you'll be wearing when you walk the red carpet. I want to give great entrepreneurs such as yourself the opportunity to shine. Be Your Own Publicist (BYOP) was created for the entrepreneur that wants to get the media to take notice without having to sell their soul. The Be Your Own Publicist Group Coaching Program is for the entrepreneur that wants to incorporate public relations into their marketing strategy, but doesn't have the budget to hire a Publicist. The BYOP group coaching program will provide you with all the tools and resources to bring out your inner media magnet. This step by step system will walk you through the process of creating your PR plan and executing it with my support.

“Deja, It’s been such a pleasure working with you — thank you so much for helping us get the word out about the tour.

In Tallahassee, a student mentioned she saw us on Community Chat, and another attendee heard about the event on the radio. This was the first time we’ve hosted events outside of the tri-state area, so the media coverage you secured really helped break us into the southeast region of the country.

Ariel and I look forward to working with you in the future. This is just the beginning! ”

— Janel Martinez 20/20 Shift CCO

“ When I first started thinking about going into business I had no idea what it entailed. I realize now how fortunate I was and still am to have someone like Deja in my corner. Deja is very knowledgeable in all areas concerning Public Relations. She is very creative and is always coming up with innovative ways to push her clients forward ! ”

— Music Artist Raqi Lily

“Deja taught me about the importance of branding & public relations for small businesses. If you are looking to take your company to the next level, she can help you. ”

— Dasmine Gregory, CEO of Hair So Beeautifull

About Me

I'm Deja Monee, a Public Relations (PR) Specialist. I’m also known as a publicist, PR Girl, and my personal favorite, “the plug”. I hate to burst your bubble, but PR is not what you've seen on TV. No shade to Samantha from Sex & the City or Olivia Pope from Scandal, but PR is not glamourous. There are some cool perks, but brand livelihoods and reputations are at stake.

I got my start in the communications industry as a journalist, but transitioned into the PR industry after taking on an internship at a PR firm in college. My foundation in journalism has given me a great advantage because I am able to leverage my previous relationships in journalism to maximize exposure for my clients. Since I've been on the other side, I know first hand what peaks the media's interest.

Over the past few years, I've represented clients in various industries including beauty, fashion, entertainment, alcohol, and technology. I've secured media placements in The Examiner, Madame Noire, Philly.com, The Daily News, Kontrol Magazine, Huffington Post, Fashion Bomb Daily, HypeBae and more.
